Course Unit Description
The course unit is designed as a general introduction to the broad aspects of computer systems, Information system, introduction to computer operations and computer applications software.
Course Objectives
The objectives of the course are to:
- Give students a broad understanding of computers and their uses
- Introduce the students to Information and Communication technologies
- To introduce the students to application software in general
- To differentiate between sets of application software
- To make use of the different computer application software to solve day-to-day problems
Expected Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course unit, the students should be able to:
- Describe the computer system and its sub-systems and other devices or peripherals and the internet
- Create, use and manage directories and files within the Windows or Linux/Unix
- Identify various computer devices
- Describe and classify the different types of software
- Use the computer to perform various tasks in organization
- Use the Internet
