Course Unit Description
Soil is the “PLACENTA” of life, therefore activities of organisms living in soil affect the welfare of crop plants growing rooted in soil. The pathogenic fungi and diseases they cause will be studied and methods of disease control discussed.
Objectives of the course
At the end of the course the students should be able to:
- Recognize crop plants with disease symptoms
- Isolate bacteria and fungi from infected plants
- Identify the pathogens
- Suggest methods of control of the disease
Expected outcomes
- Graduates with competence to recognize and deal with serious crop diseases
