Course Unit Description


In this unit, the relationship between population on one hand, and environment and development, on the other, is dealt with and vice versa. This unit further analyses the relationship among the following variables; Population, Environment and Development. 

Course Objectives
By the end of the unit, students should be able to:

  • Relate population, environment and development
  • Identify factors affecting population growth and distribution;
  • Identify patterns of population composition and its implications; and
  • Cite examples of natural and man disasters

Learning out comes
By the end of the course unit participants will be able to:

  • Explore the resourcefulness of a given population 
  • Develop responses to enhance the quality of the population that can accelerate development
  • Enhance the quality of the environment to support and expanding population growth
