Course Unit Description
The course provides the student an insight into athletics with emphasis on track events and field, aerobics movement. The purpose from each one of those fields is to equip students with basic knowledge and skills to play, teach, officiate those sport fields as well as designing their activity areas with correct dimensions.
Course objectives
By the end of the course, learners should be able to:
- Describe athletics as a sport
- Explain the various teaching points on activities which make athletics
- Identify athletics running, jumping and throwing events
- Acquire organization and officiating skills for athletic meets and galas
- Perform basic movements learnt at earlier stages of life, on rhythm.
- Practice specific workouts that improve certain aspects of their health-related fitness such as their cardiovascular, endurance, muscular fitness, flexibility, body composition, and eating habits.
- Acquire important life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude about themselves and towards others.
- Demonstrate basic aerobic patterns for other.
- Work together with other to develop an aerobic and dance routine
Learning Outcomes
- This course helps students to gain practical competence and confidence to successfully teach or coach, officiate athletics and aerobics and or demarcate the activity areas using correct dimensions in case of athletics upper primary.
