Course Unit Description

This course is designed to develop prospective teachers towards adequate knowledge of the concept of evaluation and test construction during the course. The teacher will develop skills to construct classroom-based tests to evaluate students learning outcomes. The learner will also be able to report the result to different stake holders in a professional manner. 

Course Objectives
By the end of the course teacher trainees shall be able to:

  • Appreciate the role of assessment and evaluation in curriculum development and implementation 
  • Analyze the factors that influence curriculum evaluation 
  • Examine the existing assessment and evaluation tools in terms of their appropriateness
  • Design and administer suitable assessment tools to enhance the teaching and learning process.

Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the graduates should be able to:

  • Competently conduct whole assessment of the students 
  • Critically analyze different assessment and evaluation tools 
  • Set standard tests and examinations and prepare compressive marking guides.
  • Administer assessments in methodological manner
