Course Unit Description

Supply Chain Management deals with coordinating, controlling, Planning and monitoring of material flows, information flows and financial flows that cut across multiple business entities. The co-ordination and integration of these flows, both within and across companies is critical to competing successfully in today’s marketplace. As companies become more and more global, competitive pressures intensify, therefore, companies must think beyond functional integration and need to think for integration and co-ordination at extended enterprise level. The course is aimed at providing Students with knowledge on the nature and contribution of Supply Chain Management operational functions in the organizational context; understanding of the concepts of Supply Chain Management; knowledge of the emerging issues, and challenges in Supply Chain Management; and skills to utilize the Supply Chain Management to spur organizational progress.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the students should be able to:

  • Utilise the performance indicators of supply chain management
  • Distinguish between traditional and integrated supply chain management
  • Assess the supply chain management tools and techniques
