CUR3202 Teaching and Learning Resources Development in Chemistry Education

In this course, student teachers will learn how to develop and use teaching and learning resources in Chemistry.  The course emphasizes the use of hands-on approach and project activities.  It includes laboratory teaching, the use of the environment, peer teaching and the development of resources for the teaching and learning of Chemistry.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to

• Describe an appropriate layout of a secondary school Chemistry laboratory.
• Demonstrate various safety measures in Chemistry laboratories.
• Explain the duties of different staff members in a Chemistry Department.
• Use the environment to effectively teach secondary school Chemistry.
• Prepare school Chemistry practical work.
• Supervise school Chemistry practical work.
