Course Unit Description

In this course, student teachers will learn how to develop and use teaching and learning resources in Biology. The course emphasizes the use of hands-on approach and project activities.  It includes laboratory teaching, the use of the environment, peer teaching and the development of resources for the teaching and learning of Biology.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to

  • Construct and use different teaching and learning aids to teach Biology.
  • Utilize different teaching-learning aids to teach Biology.
  • Describe an appropriate layout of a secondary school Biology laboratory.
  • Describe the procedures involved in the effective management of secondary school Biology laboratory.
  • Demonstrate various safety measures in Biology laboratories.
  • Explain the duties of different staff members in a Biology Department.
  • Utilize the environment of effectively teach secondary school Biology.
  • Prepare school Biology practical work.
  • Supervise school Biology practical work.
