CUR1201 Curriculum Development and Implementation
Course Unit Description
This course is designed to introduce the trainee teacher to the underlying principles and practices of curriculum development as a conceptual framework to shape their practices as teachers.
Course objectives
This course unit is meant to
- Explain the curriculum development process and activities at each stage
- Assess the role of different stakeholders in curriculum development and implementation
- Design a program to address an educational need within the school setting
- Compare Uganda’s Curriculum to that of other countries in the region and internationally.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduate teachers will have the ability to
- Design a model curriculum as a demonstration of understanding of principles of curriculum design and development
- Critique and suggest improvements to any given curriculum in terms of its suitability for the given context
