Course Unit Description
Procurement Ethics is concerned with moral principles and values which influence and guide business relationships towards effective procurement decisions and management. The competitive nature of public and private arena and the expenditure of significant amounts of funds require that ethical standards be incorporated into the foundation of all procurement / purchasing professionals. People who are involved at any point in the process of supplier selection, award and administration of contracts, and approval of payments must adhere to high standards of ethical behavior, and ensure that they do not show any favoritism to any suppliers over others who may be interested in doing the business with the organization.
Course Objectives
This course is designed to help students:
- To expose students to ethical issues in procurement and general business management
- To acquaint students with the general theories of ethics
- To impart skills and develop competences in handling ethical dilemmas in a systematic way
