BPM1106 Fundamentals of accounting

This course introduces students to the basic concepts of financial accounting, accounting records and preparation of basic financial statements. This will enable them to appreciate the relevance of accounting information in business decisions. 

Objectives of the Course 
The objectives of the Course are to:

• Provide students with knowledge on the fundamentals of accounting.
• Introduce the accounting principles and standards and how they should be followed in the presenting accounting practice.
• To equip students with fundamental accounting skills and principles necessary for preparation of books of accounts and financial statements

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to:

• Apply principles of Accounting in preparation of Journals and ledgers
• Prepare financial statements for a sole trader
