Course Unit Description

The course is designed to give students a comprehensive view of communication, its scope and importance in business, and the role of communication in establishing a favorable outside the firm environment, as well as an effective internal communications program. The various types of business communication media are covered. This course also develops an awareness of the importance of succinct written expression to modern business communication. The overall rational of the course is to meet the needs of organizations seeking to optimize their ability to communicate professionally within an international environment. Specifically, the Course is intended to provide students with: Effective business writing skills; Good negotiation and speaking skills; and Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
 

Objectives of the Course

  • To enable students appreciate the meaning of communication and how it relates to other management functions.
  • To enable the students use verbal and non – verbal communication
  • To improve on the basic communication skills.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the semester, the following objectives to be achieved: 

  • The students to appreciate the role and the meaning of communication and how it relates to other management functions.
  • To learn the use of both verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • To acquire public presentation skills.
  • To know writing skills of business letters, memo and minutes of a meeting
