Course Unit Description

To introduce the learners to the broad concepts of HRM and to introduce the learners to the study and practice of HRM with the aim of preparing the learner to undertake and execute a supportive role in the Human Resource function in the organization.

 

Course Objectives

  • To introduce students to the critical role human resource management plays in the survival of organizations.
  • To enable students appreciate the issues and challenges in managing human resources in different organizations.
  • Students will be expected to get equipped with the ability to plan for human resources
  • Analyse human resource policies in both business and non-business organizations

Learning Outcomes

  • Knowledge of human resource practices to their own job search and career choices
  • Improved skills in the areas of problem solving and analysis, written and oral communication, teamwork
  • Knowledge of relevant theories to the management of people in organisations
  • An appreciation  of HRM from a systemic and strategic perspective
