EDM 2105 Social entrepreneurship
Course Unit Description
Students will examine the historical and current movement of social entrepreneurship, and explore social entrepreneurship in the context of global and local social issues and personal motivational fit. Critical entrepreneurial skills will be enhanced, such as creativity, innovation, resilience, risk-taking, transformative communication, and teamwork.
Entrepreneurship has been linked to only profit oriented venture. However, there are opportunities with our vicinities which require innovators to come up with ideas to help the society in managing some challenges but not for profit motivation.
Course Objectives
The course is designed to help students:
- Appreciate the roles of business angels in entrepreneurship development
- Learn how to solicit for resources in their surrounding
- Learn how to start and operate nonprofit firms
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Distinguish between profit and nonprofit ventures
- Know how to start and operate non-profit ventures
