Course Unit Description

Uganda is endowed with large water bodies and potential of exploitation of these for aquaculture. Therefore this course is designed to equip the student with the necessary skills and knowledge in aquaculture. 

 

Course Objectives

To equip students with knowledge and skills in aquaculture systems, value chain and marketing.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Explain  the needs, behavior health and management of fish
  • Appreciate special aspects of nutrition and water quality management with regard to aquaculture and fish.
  • Select a site for pond construction, construct a pond and manage it 
  • Discuss the processing and marketing of fish products in Uganda
