APM 2207 Research Methods and Communication skills

This course is designed to expose students to specific research methods, practical aspects of preparation and conducting of research. It also involves training students to analyze research data, learn skillful writing and make effective communication.

Course Objectives

• To teach the preparations and how to conduct the different research methods.
• To teach the principles of data analysis.
• To equip students with scientific writing, reporting and presentation skills.
• To introduce the students to organized telephone managing habits and focused communication
• To train students in the civil behaviours of reading, listening, note taking, speaking and interacting.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, learners should be able to:

• Write good research proposals, conduct research, analyze data and write     reports
• Draft publications and policy briefs
• Write  business reports, curriculum vitae and memos
• Describe the fundamentals of communication, barriers to effective oral and written communication.
• Make organized and civilized communications in form of meetings, seminars and workshops.
• Be able to manage the telephone without becoming a nuisance in organized fora
