Course Unit Description

To expose the students to the field of human resource management, human resource practices and their application to agribusiness establishments. Discussions will be on HRM concepts, principles and practices; human resource planning, nature and significance of human resource, characteristics and qualities of a human resource manager, job analysis, human resource planning, recruitment and selection, motivation, performance management. Reward management, strategic human and resource development and policy.
 

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to enable students appreciate the basic concepts, principles, theories and techniques that underlie HRM practice and policies at the work place to effectively manage human resources in a constantly changing global context.

By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Explain key human resource management principles and manage human resource
  • Explain the role of human resource management to an agribusiness unit
  • Implement the human resource planning process.
  • Apply  the grievance-handling procedure and handle dispute of an agribusiness set up
