Course Unit Description

This course unit is designed to introduce teacher trainees to economic theory and practice as it pertains to education systems. The course relates general economic principles and theories to the context of education. This course is also designed to stimulate understanding of issues involved in planning the financing of education and managing financial resources. 
 

General course objective

  • To enable trainee teachers, conceptualize the application of economic principles and theories in educational investment.

Specific objectives 
This course unit is meant to:

  • Explain Introduce students to the major issues and problems relevant to the relationship between education and economic growth.
  • Develop an understanding of the economic nature of education and the economic factors that affect educational institutions.
  • Introduce students to various approaches to educational planning.

Expected learning outcomes

  • Students adequately prepared to explain the relationship between economic factors and education.
  • Students who can interpret the realities of education in Uganda.
