Course Unit Description
The Research Paper is an application of the Research Methodology course taught in second semester of second year by the Department of Education. It allows learners majoring in Mathematics to select a topic area of their choice and write a short dissertation (of not less than 40 pages with line spacing 2) about the topic. Each student is allocated a supervisor from the Department of Mathematics who guides the student through the research process. The Research Paper is to be undertaken by learners majoring in Mathematics in the second semester of the third year.
Course Objectives
The main objective is to enhance the learners’ capacity to conduct research in Mathematics and to develop skills needed in presenting a rigorous argument, develop individual problem-solving skills, improve skills in utilizing resources, develop a global perspective of the role of mathematics in society.
