MED2302: Community Diagnosis and research
Course Unit Description
This is a community-based course where students will spend time at rural health centers practicing diagnosis of community problems. Together with the facility health teams they will design interventions and communicate health messages to the communities. Students will present a report and a log book of their activities at the end of the course.
Course objectives
By the end of the course students should be able to;
- Describe epidemiological methods of investigations
- Describe the principles of community diagnosis
- Describe the methods used in the assessment of nutritional status
- Carry out community diagnosis in order to understand the health requirements of a community
- Develop skills for computer applications.
- Appreciate the role and develop skills of communication and counselling
- Apply computer programs in structural analysis
