Course Unit Title
PHY7209: Advanced Nuclear Physics
Course Unit Description
This course begins with the fundamentals of Nuclear Physics, and then nuclear reactions and ele-mentary particle physics are outlined. This course also focuses on radiation detection and spectros-copy.
Course Objectives
The objectives of the course are to:
- Discuss nuclear models of the atoms in relation to their stability.
- Determine conservation of physical quantities.
- Discuss elementary particle physics in nuclear analysis.
- Differentiate between different types of decay processes.
- Explain how radiation interacts with matter.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the students should be able to:
- Discuss nuclear models of the atoms in relation to their stability.
- Determine conservation of physical quantities
- Apply elementary particle physics in nuclear analysis
- Differentiate between different types of decay processes
- Explain how radiation interacts with matter
