SEE8202 Energy simulations Software: (Compulsory subject in semester 2)
Course Unit Title
SEE8202 Energy simulations Software: (Compulsory subject in semester 2)
Course Unit Description
This compulsory course covers the use of standard energy software available in predicting performances of energy systems. It also builds on EEM1003, (Energy Engineering System Dynamics) to develop new software using MATLAB® or any other high level programming language.
Aims
- To introduce commonly available commercial energy software to students and instruct them on how to use them
- To instruct students on development of new simulation software using MATLAB/Simulink programming
- To show students the importance of validation of simulation software
Learning Outcomes
- Students select and use the most suitable software to solve an energy engineering problem
- Students are able to program dynamic energy systems in MATLAB or in a higher language to simulate performance
- Students are able to compare simulation results from different programs with experimental data, and thereby validate software-based solutions.
