SEE8201 Energy Economics and Policy: (Compulsory subject in semester 2)
Course Unit Title
SEE8201 Energy Economics and Policy: (Compulsory subject in semester 2)
Course Unit Description
This compulsory course covers the economics of energy projects and optimisation of energy system design. Apart from general economic principles, it looks at decision making amidst conflicting objectives.
Aims
- To bring all students to a common understanding of basic economic principles of price, supply, demand and elasticity for purposes of this MSc program
- To introduce students to different – and conflicting – objectives in energy engineering projects
- To instruct students on optimisation formulation and solution of energy engineering design problems
Learning Outcomes
- Students correctly formulate multi-objective energy engineering problems
- Students use multiregression analysis to infer relationships between variables if any
- Students solve complex energy engineering design problems using advanced Operations Research techniques
