Course Unit Description

Seminar series are conducted by second year students. Each student presents his or her research project as work in progress. It is a must for all second year and first year students to attend as well as the lecturers, mentors, advisors and supervisors of students as well as well guests in the same areas of specialization. Each student will be required to give a minimum of four seminars that is on research concept, proposal and two on progress. A candidate may be recommended to redo a seminar where his/her previous presentation is found wanting or below recommended average score.

Seminar series emphasizes presenter-audience interactions in a professional and supportive environment. Seminars take the form of formal research presentations, sessions/workshops centred around graduate school and professional advancement, conference presentation practice, or discussions of current themes. Presentations are approximately 30-40 minutes in length, leaving 10-15 minutes for the question period. 

Course Objectives 
This course is intended: 

  • To guide students at all stages of their research projects
  • To help lecturers keep track of the students’ project
  • To share research work among students and lecturers

Course Outcomes 

  • Gained experience giving research presentations and/or interpreting and evaluating academic presentations by their peers, and attended research presentations by leaders in their fields across a wide breadth of topics relevant and current research developments in a given area.
  • Gained a greater understanding of the multidisciplinary research and physical presentations,
