Course Unit Description
Human Capital are the most valued assets of the Organization that are very influential in determining the success of any organization depending on how they are managed. Their optimal allocation/ utilization means proper planning, acquisition, skills development, motivation, management and maintenance, which brings both business and non-business organizations a long way towards growth and development. The course focuses on how performance-focused organizations ought to effectively attract, orient, develop, motivate, utilize, retain and manage exit of human assets.
Course Objectives
The course is meant to enable the students to:
- Appreciate the people dimension as the most valued/ important assets of the organization that need to be prudently managed for effective and efficient service delivery and/ or productivity of any business operations
- Understand the best management approaches/ practices towards the management of such most valued assets.
- Gain knowledge and skills in current practices of managing people in effective Organisations.

- Explain and interpretation of the theoretical and practical underpinnings of people management (HCM)
- Describe factors to the practice of Human Capital Management with due emphasis on important Employment Relations and the business environment

- Describe the best practices of Developing Human Capital for improved performance through employee training and management development, career development and performance management
- Demonstrate the utility of Human Capital Maintenance practices like health and safety, grievance and discipline management, compensation administration, benefits and services
