Course Unit Description
This course is intended to equip students with the necessary quantitative techniques and skills which can be utilized in the management career and in other areas of the MBA program. Quantitative methods and techniques constitute an important segment of any curriculum in management education. This course provides an understanding to support good statistical analysis and managerial decision making. It will also help students to obtain forecasting skills through time series and regression analysis.
Course Objectives
The course is intended to;
- Provide to students with general quantitative skills needed to make business decisions
- Help students to use statistical methods of data collection and presentation.
- Guide students on how to use correlations, regressions and measures of central tendencies and dispersion in data analysis.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Make business decisions through using quantitative techniques such as matrix algebra, linear programming and calculus
- Carry out regression and correlation analysis to determine the influence and relationship between business variables
- Summarize statistical data using Pie charts, graphs and frequency tables
- Calculate and interpret; mean median, mode, standard deviation and coefficient of variation
