Course Unit Description

Management of people is a fundamental issue and it is becoming increasingly challenging. There is a widespread sense across the world that there is not enough well-trained human resource, at least not in the numbers required. Yet employees are very important assets of an organization. They are the human capital to be invested in (Alhas, 2005). The growth and productivity of any organization are realizable when such human capital is well managed. The challenge is that organizations are becoming more and more dynamic, and the human beings therein are equally becoming more and more complex due to socio-economic and political demands. Arguably, when the proper quantity and quality of human resources is well managed, it can manipulate other resources towards realization of organizational goals and objectives. Therefore, human resource management has become a crucial subject of study to harmonize dynamic organizations and complex human beings, to achieve optimum productivity.
