Course Unit Description
Agriculture being the most important component in economic development for the Less Developed Countries (LDCs), the course focuses on the economics of agriculture as an element of value addition in agricultural practice. It gives analytical discussion of the theories of demand and supply in agriculture, agricultural markets, and agricultural development policy.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Examine the role of agriculture in economic development
- Identify and analyze the constraints to agricultural development
- Critically analyze supply and demand relationships in the agriculture sector
- Analyze the marketing dynamics in the agricultural sector
- Evaluate selected policy issues in agricultural development.
