Course Unit Description

It involves the study of how land can be used to its full capacity and capability by first surveying it and classifying it into different classes and then drawing out a farm plan clearly showing how different farm enterprises have been allocated on the land.

Course Objective

  • To explain the principles of elementary land surveying
  • To describe how farm lay out is done
  • To explain how to partition farm land and use each portion according to its production potential.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the students should be able to: 

  • Measuring land distances accurately, Survey land using appropriate methods and tools
  • Establish contours on land using different methods
  • Interpret farm maps correctly, correctly classifying land according to its production potential
