Course Unit Description
The course introduces the student to the concept of the principles and philosophy of Agricultural extension, gender and agricultural development, program and project planning, activities, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
Course objectives
- To explain the concept of Principles & Philosophy of extension
- To explain the concept of gender and gender issues in Agriculture
- To explain the principles of program planning and evaluation
- To explain the process of program planning and report writing.
- To explain the meaning of a group and the process of group formation.
Learning outcome
At the end of this course the students should be able to:
- Explain the principles and philosophy of extension
- Explain the previous and current extension approaches in Uganda
- Explain gender concepts and be gender sensitive
- Develop a simple extension program and execute it
- Conduct him/herself ethically in doing the work of extension
- Monitor and evaluate an extension program
- Write a comprehensive extension program report
- Guide formation of groups in various communities
