Course Unit Description
The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge of the data collection and analysis. The course will cover business statistical techniques for data collection presentation and analysis such as frequency tables and graphs and measures of central tendencies such as the mean, median and mode. The course will also cover dispersion and statistical analytical issues such as standard deviation and variances, statistical probabilities, time series and index numbers, Hypothesis testing, regressions and correlations.
Course Objectives
The course is intended to expose the learners;
- To equip students with analytical skills and statistical concepts useful in credible decision making
- To improve students’ knowledge of describing and interpreting historical empirical records
- To enable students acquire data collection, presentation, analysis and interpretation skills so as to make informed decisions
- To introduce students to techniques used in prediction, based on present and past data
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Appreciate the use of statistical data collection and analysis techniques in making business decision.
- Calculate and interpret measures of central tendency and dispersion
- Make business decisions using statistical results from regression and correlation analysis.
