This course will provide the student with a broad understanding of biology of causative agents of diseases of livestock importance and those with public health significance. How causative agents interact with the environment, other agents and the hosts
Course Objectives
- To give students knowledge and skills to enable them identify parasites that affect livestock and diagnose livestock diseases caused by parasites and micro-organisms
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, learners should be able to:
- Describe biological interaction/ relationships/associations between organisms
- Classify organisms by kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species
- Identify common parasites of livestock
- Collect, prepare and examine gross specimens of common parasites of livestock
- Describe the lifecycles of common livestock parasites
- Explain and implement the strategies for parasite control in livestock production
