Course Unit Description

This course exposes the students to the major principles of farm management with a focus on the administrative set-up and operations. It also looks at a holistic approach in communication with a focus on the effective use and handling of communication situations, that students find themselves in both the professional and personal environments. 

Course Objectives

  • To expose students to the basic farm management principles& practices
  • To equip students with decision making skills pertaining to farm labor, capital, budgeting and selection of enterprises.
  • To impart knowledge on communication techniques, processes and styles 

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Understand the underlying farm management principles and practices.
  • Appreciate information systems and their impact upon animal production.
  • Understand decision making skills pertaining to farm labor, capital, budgeting and selection of enterprises.
