Course Unit Description

Probability Distributions (Random variables:  discrete probability distributions:  uniform distribution.  Mean median, mode and variance of discrete distributions). The Normal distribution:  representation of a normal distribution and its properties, standard normal distribution, simple application of a normal distribution. It covers Vectors (Vectors in 2 dimensions, Vectors in 3 dimensions, Scalar (dot) product, and Cross product).

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the student teacher should be able to:

  • Enable him/her to distinguish between discrete and continuous random variable, calculate and interpret index numbers for comparison, rank any two variables and establish a relationship; build an academic background to an understanding of vectors and their applications for further studies;
  • Use statistics in everyday life.
