Course Unit Description
The course introduces students to methods of teaching music and how to conduct research or projects in music
Course Objectives
To prepare appropriate scheme of work
To prepare appropriate lesson plan
To identify appropriate teaching/learning aids
To be abreast with current issues in music education
To prepare pupils for music festivals
To carry out research project on any African music activity.
Expected Outcome
A well baked music teacher who can handle any class at primary school.
- At this level, the student is expected to be more knowledgeable in the methodology in music education. For that reason, they should be acquainted with the aims of music both in the curriculum and outside the classroom. They should look at and examine very critically the primary school music syllabus and lay down strategies to implement it putting into account contemporary issues in music education in primary schools. Students should carry out research project in any musical activity e.g. making, tuning and playing of an African musical instrument.
