GEO3103 Biogeography
Course Unit Description
This module gives introduction of biogeography, natural environment and its component subsystems, man and the environment and development, as well as Environmental conservation. Ecosystem concept and its unifying role to organization and analysis of geographical data, Environmental factors influencing and / or determining the spatial distribution of plant and animal communities will be explored in details.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course students should be able to:
- Define the term biogeography and describe the component subsystems
- Explain the unity among the natural environment components
- Explain the concept of ecosystems and its characteristics
- Examine basic definition of pedogenesis
- Identify the major soil types in Uganda and explain related management problems
- Assess the relationship between main and environment.
