Course Unit Description
This course unit intended to teach learners skills of planning more so economic development planning. It covers the historic perspective of development plans in LDCs, concepts used in national planning, plan formulation and requirements for successful planning; patterns of Development Planning; strategic and annual plans; planning models; Economic planning and price mechanism; economic planning Vs agriculture and industry; and how to mobilize domestic sources of finance for economic development.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Explain the economic development concepts
- Describe the steps undergone to come up with a national development plan
- Describe different models used in planning
- Discuss how the domestic resources can be mobilized for national development
