STA3108 Demographic and Social Statistics

The scope of social and demographic statistics includes: Importance and uses of demographic statistics; Data sources of demographic statistics; Types of basic population measures, population size, density and distribution; Fertility and Fertility Control measures; and Population structure: age and sex.

General Course Objectives
By the end of the course the student should be able to;

• Analyze demographic data
• Estimate and interpret indicators

Expected Learning Outcomes

• The main objective of the course was to help learners to develop skills for carrying out data analysis in demography. 
• Moreover, it aimed at strengthening the capability of learners to take part in the estimation of demographic indicators.
