ECO2101 Microeconomics I
Course Unit Description
This course builds on the introductory microeconomics learnt in first year. It covers the concepts of; the theory of market demand and consumer behavior; the theory of production behavior, the theory of costs and market structures. To facilitate the learners to have a deeper insight into microeconomics.
General Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the participants should be in a good position to:
- To explain concepts of the theory of consumer behaviour
- To describe the indifference curve
- To explain the concept of market demand
- To describe the theory of market in the present context
- To discuss the theory of production
- To give of account for the theory of costs, market structures, monopoly, oligopoly and general equilibrium
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Understand, explaining and predicting microeconomic behavior.
- Apply the Knowledge and skills acquired in this course in other branches of economics such as public sector economics, environmental economics, labour economics etc.
