Course Unit Description

Course Description The course unit is designed as a general introduction to the broad aspects of computer systems, introduction to computer operations and computer applications. Topics covered include Introduction/Overview, Classifications, Introduction to Microsoft Word, Introduction to Microsoft Power Point (Presentation), Introduction to Microsoft Power Access (Databases), Graphics, Networking and Internet.

General Course Objectives
On successful completion of this course unit, the learners should be able to:

  • Identify various computer devices,
  • Describe the different parts of a computer;
  • Describe the historical evolution of computers;
  • Classify computers and their functionalities
  • Competently use the common word processor applications
  • Use the Various electronic devices to deliver learning experiences
  • Use the Computer to perform various tasks
  • Use the internet

Expected Learning Outcomes
This course unit is meant to:

  • Give learners a broad understanding of computers and their uses,
  • Introduce the learners to Information and Communication technologies,
  • To introduce the learners to application software in general,
  • To differentiate between sets of application software.
