BPM1202 Ware housing and inventory management

The concepts of ware housing and materials management are described in order to enable the students to understand their relationship within the Procurement function. Ware housing and Inventory Management is now seen as a value adding activity able to make a contribution to the profitability of a firm if managed effectively and efficiently.

Objectives of the Course

• To enable the students appreciate the operations of store and ware houses, and how to manage inventory for cost effectiveness, efficiency and effectiveness, both in private and public sectors.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the learner should be able to:-

• Outline the basic concepts of ware housing and Inventory Management
• Describe the methods used by firms in organizing stores and obtaining the right quantities of stock / inventory to be held.
• Acquire knowledge of the challenges facing ware housing and inventory Management and how these challenges can be overcome.
