Course Unit Description
This unit surveys the background of the phenomenon of peace in the world and its contribution to the development of the world. It also exposes students to the concept of human rights.
Course Objectives
By the end of this unit students should be able to:
- Analyze diplomatic relations and balance of power in Europe by 1900
- Identify and discuss the challenges against world peace up to 1945
- Identify the Major challenges against world peace today
- Discuss efforts by the world community to preserve peace
Learning out comes
By the end of this course unit the student will be able to:
- Support peace and conflict resolution at family, community and societal levels
- Benchmark the provisions in UN treaties, principles and other international frameworks to herald human rights based approaches to develop
- Differentiate between human rights and freedom
- Advocate for human rights where ever he /she may be
