STA3107 Agricultural Statistics

This course covers nature and scope of Agricultural Statistics; Land Utilization, Land Tenure; Area and Yield estimation; Crop forecasting, statistics of poultry and their products; Price Utilization and Trade statistics; Census of agricultural population and employment; and Application of experimental designs in Agriculture and their analysis.

Course Objective

• The learners are introduced the data and information to the development of agricultural sector.  
• The learners will also be trained in the methodologies both quantitative and qualitative data collection of a core set of Agricultural indicators on which data should be collected by the national Agricultural statistical system.  
• The course also helps to acquaint the learners with the uses to which the agricultural data and information are put and the wide spectrum of stakeholders who require this data. 

Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course the student should be able acquire;

• Information on the development of agricultural sector.
• Knowledge on methodologies both quantitative and qualitative data collection of a core set of Agricultural indicators on which data should be collected by the national Agricultural statistical system.   
• Knowledge on uses to which the agricultural data and information are put and the wide spectrum of stakeholders who require this data.
