Course Unit Description
This course provides a review of techniques that are useful for analyzing data collected over a period of time while Index Number analysis is useful when forecasting
events and compilation of various indices like consumer price index etc. It covers the topics such as Introduction to Time Series, Decomposition of Time Series, Adjustment of Time Series Data, Estimation of the Trend Line, Fit of other Time Series Equations and Curves, Seasonal Variations, and Index Numbers.
General Course Objectives
On successful completion of this course unit, the learners should be able to:
- Define a Time Series
- Identify various problems related to Times Series.
- Fit the estimation of a trend line and other time series equations and curves
- Demonstrate the various Graphical Presentations
- Fitting different time series models
- Forecast (predicting future values of the time series)
- Master the various methods of generating indices and apply them to solve practical problems.
