SPE3102 Contemporary Issues in Sports

The course introduces students to the knowledge of drugs use in physical education and sports, their effects and preventive measures, gender issues and how to overcome them in physical education and sports.

Course Objectives

• State the common drugs used in sports and physical education and, how they affect the body
• Identify causes of drug use in physical education and sports activities.
• Suggest ways of preventing drug use, crime and violence among the youth in Sports and Physical  in secondary schools Education 
• Discuss gender participation in sports and physical education

Expected learning outcomes

• Identify common drugs used in physical education and sports
• Acquire knowledge of drug use and prevention in sports in secondary schools
• Acquire knowledge of guiding and counseling students
