Course Unit Description

This course introduces students to concepts and principles which govern growth, maturation and development, and how they are applied to exercise and sport among children. 

Course objectives
By the end of the Unit, students will be able to;

  • To explain concepts and principles which govern growth, maturation and development, and how they are applied to excise and among children.
  • To explain the term skill and differentiate skill and ability.
  • To link theory/ ideas to practical situation
  • To examine growth spurts and relate them to exercise.

Expected Learning outcomes
By the end of the course the students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and principles which govern growth, maturation and development  
  • Display how the knowledge of concepts and principles which govern growth, maturation and development   are applied to exercise and sport among children.
