Course Unit Title
Course Unit Description
This course is concerned with basic concepts, principles, theories, and techniques in the teaching-learning process and cognition. In this course, students will be introduced to the major themes in the field of cognition. It emphasizes major principles of human learning and cognition viewed from empiricist, nativist and constructivist perspectives. Aspects of conditioning, memory, information processing, motivation, problem-solving and metacognition will be investigated systematically. Principles of learning as applied to special populations (the gifted and talented, the handicapped, and the adult learner) and models of teaching (e.g. discovery, inquiry, and cooperative) also are emphasized.

The course is intended to;
- Generate knowledge and understanding of the teaching-learning process
- Develop an understanding of the conditions necessary for learning to take place.
- Characterize the contexts and mindsets of learners.
- Categorize and profile learners according to their needs and abilities.
- Develop strategies to improve learning

A student who successfully completes the course should:
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the teaching-learning process and the conditions necessary to optimize learning

- Categorize diverse learner profiles in today's world and to develop strategies to meet learners' needs
