Course Unit Description
This course explores issues of educational, vocational guidance and counseling in schools. A student teacher is introduced to theories of counseling and their application in a school situation.
Course objectives
By the end of the course, a student shall be able to:
- Differentiate between guidance and counseling.
- Analyze similarities and differences between various counseling approaches.
- Identify qualities of an effective counselor
- Highlight concerns of student that require the use of guidance and counseling.
Expected outcomes
- To have a teacher who is both a good guide and effective counselor.
- Also a teacher who is able address the challenges of adolescents in schools.
