Course Unit Description

This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge of causes and effects of climatic change. It covers energy exploitation, climatic changes, pollution and environmental policy. 
 

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:

  • List all types of energy sources and state their optimal use
  • Explain changes in the environment that lead to global warming and how this can be combated
  • Discuss the various types of pollutants and their effects
  • Enumerate the various effects of interactions of nuclear radiation with matter;
  • State the national environmental policy

Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, a student should be able to:

  • Discuss how energy balance is maintained in the universe
  • Describe the different energy sources and their effect on the environment
  • Explain activities that lead to global warming
  • Manage the various types of environmental pollutants
