Course Unit Description
Physical Education (PE) and Sports play an important role in the development of students. Through PE, students acquire the knowledge, skills, right attitudes and values towards each other and the environment. It also provides an avenue for students to express themselves through movement and physical activity. The course is arranged in units as per each semester.
Course Objectives
By the end of this unit, students should be able to:
- Identify and describe Physical Education and Sports
- Identify methods of teaching physical education at secondary school level.
- Develop strategies to address the problems and challenges of physical education at secondary level.
- Trace the historical origins of Physical Education and contributions of the forefathers, other nations, the missionaries, and the colonial administrative and post independent government.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of this unit, students are expected to;
- Effectively describe physical education and sports
- Identify the goals, aims and objectives of teaching physical education at secondary school level.
- Demonstrate strategies to address the problems and challenges of physical education at secondary level.
- Trace the historical origins of Physical Education and contributions of the forefathers, other nations, the missionaries, and the colonial administrative and post independent government.
- Display knowledge about the development in teaching physical education in Uganda.
